Malala's story

Class Carberry are studying about life in Palestine under Roman rule at the time of Jesus. Today we were discussing examples of repressive governments and what life must be like in those countries today. We spoke about Pakistani schoolgirl Malala Yousafzai, the education campaigner shot by the Taliban because they had banned girls from attending school and Malala was very vocal on her views about promoting education for girls.

Watch the videos below and answer the following questions:
  1. What country is Malala from?
  2. Who took over the Swat area?
  3. God loves you more if you are forced to wear a beard - True or False?
  4. Name three changes the new rulers made in Swat?
  5. How did Malala respond to the new rules regarding education?
  6. How did the new rulers react to Malala's efforts?
